September: times of new beginnings, good intentions, new projects. Regenerated by the summer vacations, we feel full of vitality, with an unbridled desire to give a turn in our life and launch into new adventures.

Here CLIC takes the field coming back to you with an important announcement for innovators, startuppers and entrepreneurs working in the cultural heritage field!

We have talked a lot about it in these months and finally here we are: the application to the CLIC Startup Competition is available and we really look forward to receiving your innovative ideas for cultural heritage adaptive reuse.

Our call is addressed to wannabe startuppers, already active entrepreneurs, informal teams, early stage and pre-seed startups coming from EU and non-EU Countries who have developed or are still developing innovative projects, solutions, technologies and models inspired to the principles of sustainable development, social innovation and ethical finance able to contribute to innovation in these and further heritage-related sectors:

• Cultural, safe and sustainable tourism
• Creative, cultural, education and entertainment industries
• Heritage community, social innovation and ethical finance
• Technologies and materials for the circular city and building
• Abandoned cultural landscapes regeneration

Once applied to the Startup Competition, you will be contacted for an online interview. The 20 best ideas will be announced on our website on October, 22 so stay tuned!

The finalists will be invited to the three-day event which will be held in Naples from 25th to 27th November. We are confident that there will be the right conditions to enjoy a physical event in the sunny Naples taking the required precautionary and safety measures. Otherwise, CLIC Startup Competition will go online spreading your talent and brilliant ideas through the web!

The first day will host a Living Lab, structured in 2 moments, Inspiring Keynote Speeches, to share best practices at the European level, and Living Tables, to stimulate discussion and cross-fertilization on innovative creative entrepreneurship among stakeholders coming from different Countries. The second and third day, dedicated to the innovative and creative initiatives of the Startup Competition, will provide for 2 actions: the first aimed at the elaboration of the pitch by the teams and supported by mentors and experts; the second at the business ideas presentation to a qualified international jury composed of researchers, finance and industry representatives, innovation and cultural heritage experts who will identify the 5  best proposals.

The 5 most voted projects will access a mentoring and acceleration programme provided by the CLIC Partner Iniziativa Cube to enhance the readiness level of their business ideas. The mentoring and acceleration services, worth 15,000 Euro, will take place from December 2020 to March 2021 and can be followed both physically and remotely. Winners will be supported in fine-tuning their business model, drawing up their business plan, investors’ scouting for fundraising.

CLIC Startup Competition is supported also by SEMED, the digital platform powered by FacilityLive, in collaboration with the European Commission, which connects innovation ecosystems of the Mediterranean, creating opportunities for the entire ecosystem via a single point of access.

The 5 winners will be rewarded by SEMED with:

• A free membership SEMED premium profile for 12 months, in case of established startups;
• Visibility in the promo widget (Ecosystem focus) visible in the CLIC showcase for 12 months.

Furthermore, SEMED will publish the 20 best business ideas selected on the CLIC “Opportunities” showcase at the end of the Startup Competition, thus offering a great opportunity of visibility to the informal teams / individual innovators and startups who have reached the final stage of the selection.
