Circular governance between theory and practice Laboratory of Transdisciplinarity III (LabT)

CLIC’s third Transdisciplinary Laboratory (LabT) will take place on 21 November 2019 in Brussels. It is organized by ICHEC Brussels Management School which is leading on work package 3 Supporting circular governance through informed decision-making. This LabT will discuss circular governance at all levels starting from the global level, investigating the regional, speculating on the city and finally examining it at the building level.

ICHEC aims at spurring reflection and discussion around the evolving theoretical framework of circular governance and to draw lessons from seminal practical case-studies. In this regard, Michel Bauwens will be talking us through the urban commons transitions and providing some examples from a global perspective. Marie Yeroyanni, will introduce the latest developments of EU R&I Agenda on cities and how circularity and governance are tackled in ‘The Human-Centred City’ report which will guide future EU R&I investments on cities.  Stephan Kampelmann will speculate on how to govern the circular metabolism and provide examples of attempts to innovate the governance of metabolic flows. Andy Pratt will explore the possibility of governing the cultural sector from a circular economy perspective. Arianne Acke will present the Living Lab experience co-designed and implemented under the framework of the Horizon 2020 REPAiR project. Michiel Van Balen will share his insights on the entrepreneurial journey of the cases of De Hoorn and Hal5 in Leuven, Belgium. Finally, Christian Ost will draw some conclusions based on the interactive discussion and exchange of views.
