Project Name Kulturni dom spanski borci, Slovenia
Description The adaptation project focused primarily on the energetic upgrade of wooden facades and glass facades as well as ventilation systems. The intervention was consistent with the needs of the new manager and user of the building Zavod En-Knap. The authentic design of the building, spatial organisation, structural elements were not affected. Originally it was used as a community multi-purpose cultural venue; today its original function is expanded with a diverse program, which covers performing arts, rehearsal areas, mediatheque, gallery, cafe and co-working creative HUB.
Description of the economic, social and environmental impacts of the project Cultural homes of city neighbourhoods are often underused, and their maintenance and content can be a problem for the owner. KD Ĺ panski borci, in Ljubljana neighbourhood Moste, is an example of leasing the building to the NGO which needs a venue and training facilities for its own needs. Under the NGO management and its program, new uses emerged, resulting in urban regeneration.
