Survey on Cultural Heritage Adaptive Reuse practice

Project description
Project Id 3377
Project Name Å vicarija - Hotel Tivoli, Slovenia
Description After the Ljubljana earthquake in 1895, architect Ciril Metod Koch designed the Tivoli Hotel in "Alpine and national style", which was built in 1909 on a space of previous Alpine style hut (first half of 19th century) named "Å vicarija". No other building in Ljubljana was ever built in this style, therefore Hotel Tivoli "Å vicarija" remains an architectural lone. Need for additional space of the Institute International Centre of Graphic Arts, which resides in the neighbouring Manor Tivoli, provoke the renovation and revitalisation of the degraded monument. The renovation provided new artist studios, residencies and exhibition spaces for prospective artists in the field of visual arts.
Description of the economic, social and environmental impacts of the project Renovation of Å vicarija is a successful architectural conservation project, with excellent craftsman work, where the original substance was preserved and restored maximally, and new modern architectural addition autonomously complements the old building.
