Project Name Battersea Arts Centre - performing arts centre, UK
Description Battersea Arts Centre restoration began as a long term, improvisatory collaboration with artists, theatre producers and the local community. The transformation of entire former town hall building now offers use for creative and community activity, increased number of performance spaces and incorporated artists’ residences, a new rooftop office and staff garden, a creative business hub, a community allotment and an outdoor theatre.
Description of the economic, social and environmental impacts of the project The design process of the restoration among client and architects included a local community and artists as well as other stakeholders resulting in a creative collaborative and sustainable design solution; resulting in a more resilient, inclusive and accessible civic space
